Program and Curriculum OverviewThe Laureate School stresses interactive learning within a small-class environment that addresses students' unique learning needs while equipping them with key collaborative and methodological competencies necessary for the 21st century. At the preschool level the school adopts the Montessori program of mixed-age classroms where individual needs are met best through a focus on individual learning activities. By the Kindergarten level, children have progressed to the "cognitive" phase of development and become increasingly interested in learning within peer groups. Thus learning needs at this level are best met within same-age classrooms where children learn collaboratively within a combination of flexible, differentiated small and whole-class groupings. High academic standards and formative assessment ensure high student achievement in core curricular areas. Through a variety of educational experiences, students gain knowledge through applied critical thinking within a cohesive program that instills respect for self and others, fosters personal responsibility, and empowers students with problem resolution skills for success in high school and in life. |
